About Me
I'm originally from New York, where I was born and lived most of my life with my older brother and two parents. Once it came time to visit colleges toward the end of high school, I fell in love with the University of Maryland campus in College Park. The programs it had to offer in the Department of Education and its many extracurriculuar activities and clubs to get involved in fit perfectly with my personal values and what I would hope for in a college. For my undergraduate years I majored in Elementary Education, with a concentration in mathematics, and minor in Special Education. After four fantastic years filled with volunteer experiences abroad, participating in leadership opportunities on campus, and tutoring and mentoring programs, I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education in May 2010. Wasting no time, I continued my higher level education going to University of Maryland in College Park for Graduate School in the 1 year Special Education program in the Department of Education as well. I quickly graduated again in May 2011 with my Masters of Education in Elementary Special Education.
I have always enjoyed working with children due to their interesting way of thinking mixed with my patience and drive for them to reach their full learning potential. The feeling both children and educators get once they understand a concept and communicate they love for school topics is unbelievable.
My philosophy of education includes advocating for multiple intelligences' a group of students may posses and that each student, no matter what learning style (auditory, visual, kinesthetic/tactile), has the potential to learn and succeed. It is the job of the educator to have the student realize their potential through motivating and engaging activities as well as expecting the student to assume responsibility for their own learning.
Soy originario de Nueva York, donde nació y vivió la mayor parte de mi vida con mi hermano mayor y dos padres. Una vez que llegó el momento de visitar las universidades hacia el final de la escuela secundaria, me enamoré de la Universidad de Maryland en College Park campus. Por mis años de estudiante me especialicé en Educación Primaria, con una concentración en matemáticas, y menor en la Educación Especial. Después de cuatro años fantásticos llenos de experiencias de voluntariado en el extranjero, participando en oportunidades de liderazgo en el plantel y tutoría y programas de mentores, obtuve mi licenciatura en Ciencias de la Educación Primaria en mayo de 2010. Sin perder tiempo, continué mis estudios de nivel superior va a la Universidad de Maryland en College Park para la Escuela de Posgrado en el programa de Educación Especial de 1 año en el Departamento de Educación también. Rápidamente me gradué de nuevo en mayo de 2011 con mis Maestros de Educación Primaria en la Educación Especial.
Siempre me ha gustado trabajar con niños debido a su interesante forma de pensar mezclado con mi paciencia y unidad para que puedan alcanzar su máximo potencial de aprendizaje. La sensación de los niños y los educadores obtener una vez que entienden el concepto y comunicar que el amor por los temas escolares es increíble.
Mi filosofía de la educación incluye la defensa de las inteligencias múltiples ', un grupo de estudiantes pueden poseer y que cada estudiante, no importa qué estilo de aprendizaje (auditivo, visual, cinestésica / táctil), tiene el potencial para aprender y tener éxito.
